Expo 2020 Dubai, a $7-billion six-month event featuring pavilions from around the globe that showcase architectural and technological innovation, was launched on October 1, 2021. It had been delayed by COVID. It will continue until March 31, 2022. Emirates customers will be granted free entry to the Expo and free PCR testing. Emirates stopped offering COVID-19 medical coverage to its passengers as a complimentary service on December 1, 2021.
Who Can Travel to Dubai in 2022
Except for certain exceptions that apply to UAE nationals and their immediate families, passengers who have entered or transited through these countries within the last 14 days are not allowed entry.
Mandatory PCR testing must be performed on all passengers who arrive from these countries. Anyone else can enter Dubai normally. The UAE will implement an international travel ban for residents who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19, starting January 10, 2022. To travel, residents who are completely vaccinated will require to get a booster dose.
Applications for tourist visas have been opened by the United Arab Emirates to all countries except those listed above. Most international travelers arriving in Dubai must submit a negative PCR test within 72 hours of arrival and register their vaccination status via the government’s Health App.
Visitors arriving from India, Bangladesh, Sudan, Pakistan, Zambia, and the UK, are exceptions. The test window for these passengers is 48 hours. A rapid PCR test report and a QR code must be provided by them for the test to be conducted at the departure airport in six hours.
To be permitted on the flight, passengers arriving from India or Pakistan must have their certificates issued by designated laboratories. Upon arrival in Dubai, visitors from certain countries (including Russia and Brazil) must pass another test. For arrivals from other countries, random spot-check PCR testing was also introduced.
Indian citizens who have a common passport and are traveling to or from India via Dubai may get a visa upon arrival. This visa is valid for a maximum 14-day stay, provided they have a valid visitor visa, green card, or green card issued in the USA or the UK. UK citizens should be aware that the NHS COVID test certificate is not accepted for travel to the United Kingdom.
All passengers traveling to Dubai from France or Spain from France, Germany, or Spain will need to show a negative PCR certificate or a vaccination certificate from the UAE, Spain, or France.
Requirements for All Visitors Arriving in Dubai
- All passengers traveling to Dubai from any country (included GCC) must have a negative COVID-19RT-PCR test certificate. This test should be taken less than 72 hours prior to departure.
- Passengers traveling from India, Egypt, or Pakistan will have to meet certain requirements.
- Reverse Transaction Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) certificates are required. Dubai does not accept any other test certificates that include antibody tests, NHS COVID-19 tests certificates, COVID-19 rapid PCR tests, and home testing kits. To check-in, travelers must have a printed or digital certificate in English and Arabic. COVID-19 PCR certificates written in other languages may be accepted if validated at the origin station.
- A COVID-19-RT PCR test certificate must be issued by an authorized facility within the passenger’s country of departure. Even if the certificate was valid for travel to another destination, it cannot be used for re-entry.
